Giles County is starting a Special Operations Team

By Chief Christopher Neice
May 14, 2026

Giles County has identified the need for a specialized team equipped to manage emergencies requiring advanced training and specialized equipment. Over the past several years, members of Fire and Rescue teams and Law Enforcement have received instruction in areas such as rope operations, technical rescue, vehicle extrication, swift water response, active shooter incident management, and missing person searches.

Individuals from these organizations have committed time to complete these trainings, enabling them to assist both residents and visitors of Giles County. Departments have also obtained specialized equipment necessary for responding to these incidents.

The new team will consist of volunteer, highly trained first responders from various Giles County agencies. This group will act as a specialized resource, available to respond to complex emergencies throughout Giles County and neighboring communities when requested through established mutual aid agreements.
