Hose advancement and pump training

By Chief Christopher Neice
August 24, 2026

Last Tuesday, the Fire Department conducted a training session for new members focusing on advancing hose lines, as well as hydrant and pump operations.
During the training, participants practiced stretching a supply line to an engine, which was also being used to supply water to another truck.
While water was being supplied to the other truck, operators were taught that if the engine experienced a problem with either the engine or pump, water would still flow as long as there was a positive water source.
At one point, both truck engines were turned off, but the attack team was still able to continue fighting the fire because there was still enough water available.
